Since 2018, I've documented wild love stories from engagements, elopements, and weddings all around the Northwest.
When Elise and Matt reached out, they told me one thing that stuck with me: “The outdoors is where we fell in love, and where we feel most at peace.” That sentence perfectly captured not just their relationship, but also the heartbeat of Stanley, Idaho.
As a Stanley Idaho photographer, I’ve learned that this place draws in a special kind of couple—the ones who feel most like themselves under wide skies, surrounded by mountain peaks, whispering trees, and quiet lakes. Elise and Matt are one of those couples.
We spent their session tucked into Stanley’s dreamy landscape. Wildflowers framed their steps. The breeze off the lake caught her hair just right. It wasn’t about stiff poses or a Pinterest-perfect moment—instead, it was about them, grounded in the place that shaped their relationship.
In fact, they shared stories of hiking first dates, road trips with the windows down, and evenings around a fire pit under a sky full of stars. As the sun dipped below the Sawtooths, the light turned golden, and their joy just poured out. Nothing was forced. Just deeply felt love in its natural state.
Stanley is more than just beautiful. It’s quiet. Untouched. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, breathe in, and just be—together. Therefore, it creates the perfect environment for couples to truly connect during their session.
Whether you’re planning an engagement session, elopement, or wedding in Stanley, the landscape does more than add to your photos—it brings out the truest version of you. For example, the raw emotion and comfort that Elise and Matt showed during their shoot simply wouldn’t have happened in a more structured or urban setting.
Moreover, Stanley’s wide-open spaces offer a sense of freedom. That freedom lets you lean into each other, be playful, get quiet, and just feel. As a result, your photos will look and feel like real memories—not just pretty images.
As someone who values storytelling and emotion over perfection, I photograph couples in a way that allows them to just be. I focus on the in-between moments—the little glances, the quiet hands held, the laughs between takes. In other words, I want your photos to feel like you—not a trend.
Elise and Matt’s session reminded me of a blog I wrote about Idaho engagement sessions, and how connecting with nature often brings out the most real, raw, and joyful moments between couples. If you’re someone who feels at home in the wild and wants your love story told with honesty and heart, I’d love to chat.
