Hey Lovers! So you’re planning your engagement session and you want to get the most from it? Look no further! As an Idaho engagement photographer this will be your ultimate guide to get the most out of your session!

Camera shy? It’s okay!

First thing is first, feeling camera shy is totally a normal thing to feel! Even when I get in front of the camera, I sometimes feel like I have no idea what what I am doing! So just know, I totally get it! And I will hold your hand the entire time we are photographing your engagement session. Remember this session is about you and your love! So let loose and have FUN!

With that, let’s jump in to some tips to help you feel comfortable and get the most of the session.

Set the Expectation from Your Idaho Engagement Photographer!

As your Idaho engagement photographer, it’s so important you understand my expectation of you and your partner! I want to photograph you through the most authentic lens I can! In order to do that, I want you two to engage with each other; chat, look into each others eyes, laugh your asses off, and be YOURSELVES! Maybe that looks intimate full of snuggles and closeness. Maybe that is bouncing off each other giggling. Sharing fun stories with each is a great way to bring out some emotion.

Another thing that all couples should do before their session is communicate! If you booked the session communicate with your partner on your excitement! Give them all the details so they know what is happening. For example, let them know it’ll be about an hour long, it will be at your location, at the specific time you and your photographer decided on. Express to them how you want to feel during the session and what is the most important to you. You could even share with them some inspiration photos – but get detailed. Share specifically what you love about the inspiration.

Let’s get both parties involved!

Of course there is always one person that is DEEP in wedding planning that is slightly more involved than the other. But fuck that, it’s 2024. Let’s make sure everyone is involved. Your engagement session should be so much fun! For both parties and is about the BOTH of you! So make sure your partner is getting excited, ask them if they want from the session. If there is something specific they want photographed!

Make sure your outfits are GIVING!!

Picking outfits is probably one of the hardest things involved in your engagement session. But here is my quick guide to outfits.

• Think of your location. Is it a busy background? Think falls leaves on the ground, colorful trees, and lots of texture. If that is the scene maybe choose outfits with simple patterns and textures.
• Choose colors that will compliment your location and skin tone. If you are in the mountains maybe don’t choose bright pink.
• Fabric, again think of where you will be taking photos. If you are in a downtown scene, a sexy bodycon dress is great. And if you are on a beach, think of flowy fabrics.
